About this design
I love Apache attack helicopters, and having recently read Ed Macy’s book “Apache” I have a new admiration for the British version, the WAH-64, built by Westland/Augusta.
The U.S. AH-64 is a great attack helicopter, but the WAH-64 is slightly better having a folding blade mechanism, used to stow the helicopters in the confined space onboard ships, a new Rolls-Royce Turbomeca engine producing 1,565 kW (2,100 hp) vs. 1,410 kW (1,890 hp) for the U.S. General Electric engine and anti-ice protection for rotor blades, allowing for operations in arctic environments.
