Originally, the lion depicted here would be green. It's alchemical symbology, pertains to Metallurgy, Organic and Emotional and it is the latter and more contemporary meaning that this design reflects. The original meanings are steeped are esoterica to say the least, but is none the less interesting if for no other reason than an insight to how the world was once perceived.
