About this design
Here Bernard Hinault is wearing the King of the Mountains jersey in the 1986 Tour de France . In '86 he kept the KoM jersey but came second to Greg LeMond on General Classification . Hinault won five Tours de France and was a classic cycling well'ard. He won many more races than Lance Armstrong and despite having two fewer wins in the TdF I would say had a better overall record in the TdF than Armstrong - he won 28 stages, won the Green Sprinters Jersey and the King of the Mountains Jersey. He also came second twice. Additionally he is one of only five riders to have won all three of the European Grand Tours, The Giro , The Tour De France and the Vuelta and is the only rider to have won them all more than once. Lance Armstrong does not come close to this... Bernard Hinault is tough tough tough.... A bit of treachery on Alpe d'Huez- Hinault insists he was not trying to break Lemond, only help him. They even shock hands at the finish of the stage... PS This year, 2009 saw an interesting reversal of the young American seeing of a tough old European. In `86 we had American Lemond seeing off French Hinault in 2009 we had young Spaniard Alberto Contador seeing of old American, Lance Armstrong. What goes round comes round.
