About this design
Of the PM's mentioned on this shirt the only one I met and spoke to was Margaret Thatcher. It was sometime in 1999. I had the chance to ask her what she thought was her best transaction. She looked at me suspiciously. I clarified my question by describing the transaction as the one she recalls to herself, perhaps in the face of criticism she does not want to dignify with an answer, or at times when she might otherwise feel defensive in the face of some poorly informed press comment and the like. She smiled and immediately said the rebate.
It takes about 32 years to count to a billion, (shocking this but true: 3600 seconds an hour, 24 hours a day 365 days a year, just short of 32 years to count to a billion) I'd say there are very few Englishmen or women who have made UK Ltd a billion or more, Margaret Thatcher, William Shakespeare, Lord Palmerston, Henry Ford, Frank Whittle, Sir James Black, the air is pretty thin up there. The rebate deal had a kicker in it and I understand it was worth 7 billion per annum or more before the weak Blair agreed to give some of it back. Here's to British Democracy, among others it threw up Margaret Thatcher. Celebrate it by wearing our British Democracy t shirt.
