About this design
Popular in the battlefield, the Chinook is both an attack and transport helicopter. Delivering, supplying & protecting troops since the early 1960's for over 15 nations. The CH-47 Chinook is a willing and very able addition to any battle group. I first saw a Chinook when I was working in North Queensland, Australia for a small aviation tour company. An RAAF Chinook landed at our airstrip to refuel and deliver FA-18 Hornet pilots to a training camp on a nearby island. I had the opportunity to look inside the Chinook and although I knew it was big, you really have to be inside one to appreciate its true size. It was very big and very intimidating... nice. The image I have used in my design is of U.S. Army soldiers preparing to hook an M777 Lightweight 155-mm Howitzer to the Chinook during an airlift mission at Forward Operating Base Fenty in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, on Dec. 20, 2007. The howitzer was airlifted to troops in the field. DoD photo by Sgt. Brandon Aird, U.S. Army.
