About this design
This design admires the Kubuswoningen (Cube House) complex in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Cube House complex designed by Piet Blom in 1973, with several test houses being built in the late 70's before the official Rotterdam complex was completed & opened in 1984. Kubuswoningen is a fine example of creative Dutch architecture.
Piet Blom envisaged building a village within a town, containing small businesses, shops and a school and that it would create a kind of safe oasis for its residents.
That was certainly achieved and although the cube's are not completely practicle, the residents love them and the project has turned out to be a very successful one, especially considering the fact that it was just an architectural experiment on a pedestrian bridge, where Piet Blom was asked to "furnish" it.
