Ramakrishna - Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was a mystical Brahmin devotee of god living in 19th century India, such that his philosophy and devotion has yet to be corrupted by any overly zealous followers or propagandists, or yet by the passage of time from our present. He studied in depth and lived many religious teachings and orthodoxies to arrive at the empirical nature of god being of many names but only one form. What I find most admirable about Ramakrishna is that a man who couldn't even write his own name was able to demonstrate his enormous intellect thereby gaining the respect of his nations intelligentsia to the point where he indirectly influenced a path to its liberation from Imperial rule. An demonstrably enlightening life and purveyor of wisdom beyond mere education.
